Buddhist Values: These edicts encourage people to be loving, respectful, and to practice nonviolence. It also encourages people to not get attached to money.
General Welfare: These edicts promote people's well-being. People should have good health, shelter, clean water, and enough food.
Justice: These edicts are regard to fair laws. They described the way people are treated in the empire's courts and jails.
Security: These edicts are concerned with enemies of the Mauryan Empire, they often have issues of peace and conquest from others.
