My EDICTS

 I have carved edicts into walls and pillars throughout the empire. To promote Buddhist values, general welfare, justice, and security. I hope we will all follow these edicts and learn from them. Here is an example of security and general welfare. My officers have been appointed  for the welfare [safety] and  happiness of the . . . people. I  have given them . . . authority in judgment and punishment. But it is desirable that there should be uniformity [sameness] in judicial [trial] procedure and punishment. On the roads . . . trees have been planted for the enjoyment of animals and men. I have had ponds dug and shelters erected along the roads. Everywhere I have had wells dug .

A Strong Empire

  Buddhist Values: These edicts encourage people to be loving, respectful, and to practice nonviolence. It also encourages people to not get attached to money. General Welfare: These edicts promote people's well-being. People should have good health, shelter, clean water, and enough food.  Justice: These edicts are regard to fair laws. They described the way people are treated in the empire's courts and jails.  Security: These edicts are concerned with enemies of the Mauryan Empire, they often have issues of peace and conquest from others. My Great Goals

Once again, I want a great, strong, and united empire guided by Buddhist values. I have edicts carved into the wall, rocks, and tall pillars throughout the empire, so you can all be guided. My edicts were made to promote four main goals: Buddhist Values, General Welfare, Justice, and Security.

  Some haters are making rumors that I'm not important and do nothing to help my empire. Well, to say the truth I have many reasons to tell you why I'm important. I have helped our empire by making it strong and united, not by war but by Buddhist values. I have finished my dad's work in the best way possible. ☮
